Change how you see the world
Take the first step.
You and your world will never be the same.
Chaalo makes international experiences accessible to young adults who’ve never had the chance to travel outside the U.S. We offer no cost, short-term learning journeys abroad to young adults who don’t yet have a U.S. passport and have financial need.
Travel Transforms People.
Though often viewed as a luxury or vacation, travel is so much more. It teaches invaluable life lessons, sparks personal growth, and fosters a deeper appreciation for cultures around the world—and our own. It cultivates adaptability, self-awareness, and critical thinking—skills that shape who we are and how we engage with the world.
Travel ISn’t EASILY Accessible.
For many young adults, international travel feels out of reach—financially, mentally, and logistically. They may not have the money. They may not know where to begin. Some lack the confidence or support to take that first step. And often, they’ve simply never had the opportunity.
Let’s Go!
That’s why Chaalo exists. We don’t just inspire and educate—we launch young adults on a lifelong journey of perspective-shifting travel. By providing that critical first opportunity, we help students recognize the value of global experiences and encourage them to pursue future opportunities, including study abroad.
We are Starting with a pilot
Chaalo is currently seeking funding for a pilot program—a small-scale trial designed to test the viability, feasibility, effectiveness, and potential challenges of our concept before full-scale implementation. This pilot will help us refine program design, streamline logistics, and gather meaningful data to guide future implementation. It’s a critical first step toward long-term success, offering measurable outcomes and real-world insights. Your support lays the foundation for a program designed to open the world to young people who’ve never had the chance to explore it.
Pilot Phases
-
PHASE 1 - FUNDRAISE
Your support will help make it possible. Donations will fund essential startup costs, support thoughtful program design, and all travel expenses for participants. At this time, there are no staff costs, though we hope to hire a part-time executive director in the near future.
-
PHASE 2 - DESIGN
With funding in place, we’ll create a meaningful, well-supported international experience for our first group of students. We’ll collaborate with educators, advisors, and community partners to ensure the journey is safe, intentional, and student-centered.
-
PHASE 3 - Recruit
Once the program is designed, we’ll begin recruiting students—focusing on those who’ve never had the chance to travel. We’re building partnerships with trusted organizations that serve our target population to ensure equitable access and thoughtful outreach.
-
PHASE 4 - Execute
This is where the journey begins. Our inaugural cohort will travel abroad for the first time—testing our model in action while experiencing a transformative opportunity to grow, connect, and explore across cultures. Options for our first destination include Argentina, Ghana, and India.
-
Phase 5 - Evaluate
We’ll assess impact through pre- and post-trip evaluations, the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), and customized reflection tools. We also aim to follow students for up to five years to understand long-term outcomes and improve future versions of the program.
-
Phase 6 - Report
We’ll share what we learn with you—our earliest supporters. From successes to key takeaways, what we learn will inform the next chapter. We’re confident this will be a life-changing experience for our participants and can’t wait to share their experiences with you.
